This is my first response to the recent claims by The Science Asylum and #Veritasium, using a long wire, that the electric energy can be transported by static electromagnetic fields in a DC circuit. In essence, Poynting vector is meaningless in the context of time-independent electromagnetic fields, although it gives the direction of electromagnetic wave and exactly the amount of electromagnetic radiation flux in the context of forced oscillations of electric field. In addition, the oscillations the electric field and the magnetic fields must be in-face whils the ratio of the electric field to the magnetic field must be exactly the speed of light, viz. E=cB.
It is noted that the claim is nothing original. In fact, Feynman had attmpted to using Poynting vector to explain the electrical energy transformations in DC circuit but eventually gave up. It is clear now Feynman;s idea was first reused by #TheScienceAsylum in 2019 in describing steady-state of DC cuicuit; then #Veritasium decided to use this idea again in attempt to mixing up the transient and the steady-state of DC circuit. That is why TheScienceAsylum didn't care much when Veritasium used "his idea" this time.
This would appear to be another video where #Veritasium abuses his popularity among his 10m+ fans to sell his wrong ideas.
