Combating homelessness in America’s cities | LIVE STREAM
Published at : October 08, 2021
The rise of street homelessness in major cities, including Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Seattle, has prompted outcry from concerned citizens.
Policy responses have often focused on ways to first provide housing for the chronically homeless. President Joe Biden’s “House America” initiative will focus on partnering with cities to provide permanent housing and build affordable units for those experiencing homelessness.
But almost half those living on the streets suffer from severe mental illness or related problems. Might effective psychiatric treatment be a greater part of our response to street homelessness?
Please join AEI’s Sally Satel, the Manhattan Institute’s Stephen Eide, and Lisa Dailey of the Treatment Advocacy Center for a conversation moderated by AEI’s Howard Husock on the state of homelessness in America’s cities.
