Chet Baker - Well, You Needn't (1962 recording vinyl LP Chet is Back!)
Published at : October 21, 2021
“Reality is just a crutch for people who can't cope with drugs.” - Robin Williams
Chet Baker recorded Chet is Back! on January 5, 1962, just three weeks after having been released from his drug-related imprisonment in Italy.
Chesney Henry "Chet" Baker Jr. (December 23, 1929 – May 13, 1988) was an American jazz trumpeter and vocalist, though he didn’t sing on this album. He is known for major innovations within the cool jazz subgenre leading him to be nicknamed the "prince of cool".
The first rack on the album Well, You Needn’t was composed by Thelonious Monk. Six minutes and 22 seconds of jazz artistry, instrumental solos and groove that would make Monk happy.
• Chet Baker – trumpet
• Bobby Jaspar - tenor saxophone, flute
• Rene Thomas - guitar
• Amedeo Tommasi – piano
• Benoit Quersin – bass
• Daniel Humair – drums
I do not own the copyright to the music, the recording and the photos. All posts are rendered in old school using restored vinyl LPs. This channel does not use recordings from CDs. As much as possible, I attempted to remove most of the pops and crackles from the original vinyl album. Some remastering was applied to make the performance cut through within the confines of the loudness wars.
